MyPawPedia ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at mypawpedia.com and all associated pages and features. MyPawPedia is a free pet care guide platform that generates personalised care guides for pet owners using artificial intelligence.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide our service. Here is exactly what we collect and why:

• Email address: Collected when you register or log in to MyPawPedia. Used to identify your account, send occasional updates about new features, and allow you to recover access to your saved pets. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time.
• Pet data: Any pet names, breeds, and details you enter when saving pets to your personal library. This is stored in your browser and optionally in our database (Firebase) linked to your email address.
• Guide generation data: The breed and owner name you enter when generating a guide. This information is sent to our AI system to produce your guide. It is not stored permanently after the guide is generated.
• Usage data: We collect anonymous information about how you use the site — which pages you visit, how long you stay, what features you use. This is collected via Google Analytics and does not identify you personally.
• Technical data: Your browser type, device type, IP address (anonymised), and approximate location (country/city level). This is used only to improve site performance and is never used to identify you.

We do not collect payment information, government ID, passport or driving licence data, health data, or any special category personal data.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the service: Your email identifies your account. Your pet data populates your personal pet library. Your guide inputs generate your personalised care guide.
• To improve the platform: Anonymous usage data helps us understand which features are most useful and where to focus improvements.
• To send updates: With your consent, we may send occasional emails about new breeds added, new features, or platform news. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. We use Brevo (Sendinblue) to manage email communications.
• To maintain security: Technical data helps us detect abuse, prevent spam, and keep the platform functioning correctly.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (UK & EU GDPR)

For users in the United Kingdom and European Union, we process your personal data under the following lawful bases:

• Contract performance: Processing your email address and pet data is necessary to provide the MyPawPedia service you have registered for.
• Legitimate interests: We process anonymous usage data to improve the platform. This does not override your privacy rights.
• Consent: We send marketing emails only where you have given clear consent by registering and not opting out. You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.

5. Who We Share Your Data With

We share your data only with trusted service providers who are necessary to operate MyPawPedia. All providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.

• Google Analytics: Collects anonymous usage statistics. IP anonymisation is enabled. No personally identifiable information is shared. Google Privacy

6. Cookies

MyPawPedia uses the following cookies and similar technologies:

• Essential cookies: localStorage and sessionStorage store your login session and pet data locally in your browser. These are necessary for the service to function and cannot be disabled without breaking the platform.
• Analytics cookies: Google Analytics places cookies to track anonymous usage patterns. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
• Translation cookies: If you use the language translation feature (powered by Google Translate), a cookie stores your language preference.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or any cookies that follow you across other websites.

7. How Long We Keep Your Data

• Email address: Retained while your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove it within 30 days from all systems including Brevo and Firebase.
• Pet data: Stored until you delete it from your pet library, or until you request account deletion.
• Guide generation data: Not stored after your guide is generated. It is processed in real time and discarded.
• Anonymous analytics data: Retained for 26 months by Google Analytics in line with their standard retention policy.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to access: You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: You can ask us to correct any inaccurate data we hold.
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): You can request that we delete all your personal data. We will action this within 30 days.
• Right to restrict processing: You can ask us to stop processing your data while a dispute is resolved.
• Right to data portability: You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Right to object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, including marketing emails.
• Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting past processing.

When we transfer personal data from the UK or EU to the US, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK ICO and the European Commission, and we work only with providers who participate in recognised data transfer frameworks.

We take the security of your personal data seriously. Our security measures include:

• All data transmitted between your browser and our platform is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
• Firebase Firestore database access is restricted and protected by Google's enterprise security infrastructure
• Email data stored in Brevo is protected by industry-standard encryption at rest
• We do not store payment card information — we do not process payments at this time
• Access to our systems is limited to authorised personnel only
