Temperature is everything
Hypothermia kills more newborns than anything else. A cold newborn cannot digest food. Warmth before feeding โ always.
Species-specific formula only
Never use cow's milk, human baby formula or regular milk. Every species requires its own formula available at pet shops.
Feeding schedule is critical
Neonates need feeding every 1.5โ2 hours including overnight. Missing feeds in the first week can be fatal.
Vet within 24 hours
Any newborn found alone or showing distress should be seen by a vet within 24 hours regardless of how healthy they appear.
